BLOG POST: FUNDRAISER
LUCAS’ HAIR-A-THON
DONATE HERE to sponsor Lucas in the Scotiabank half-marathon on April 24th! If we reach $250, he will shave his luscious locks 🙂Â
More details below!
“Hey to y’all,
My name is Lucas Taffin and I am about to run Montreal Scotia Bank’s half marathon!
Two years ago I finished it in 2 hours and 2 minutes and although it might be difficult for me to do such a perfect time again, I can promise you that I’ll finish the race!
By running this half marathon I aim to raise money for the Mercy Project and awareness for their incredible work fighting for health and well being in northern Uganda. However, this symbolic gesture will not be enough; what they really need is financial donations that will allow them to continue their great work.
To give you an extra incentive to participate in this great fundraiser I will add emotional suffering to the physical pain I will undoubtedly face while running. If we were to raise 250$, I guarantee that I will shave my head, which has never been shorter than shoulder length since three years now. Actually, I’ve never been bald in my whole life ! But I can think of no better way to finally get the opportunity to see my skull than doing it in gratitude for you, donors to a great cause.
But the show must go on and so must the fun, so here’s a bracket of what the money raised will get you:
-
$250: I go bald.
-
$300: I go bald, but before that, I’ll be running with a mohawk.
-
$350: I will also go bald, but in the name of the Jedi’s, I’ll run with a rat tail.
-
$400: Bald again but running with a Shaolin-style pony tail.
-
$450: You already know the beginning, but during the race I’ll be honoring the catholic church, my tonsure will be legendary.
-
$500: I’ll be running with a tonsure new era style: only the top of my head will be shaved, the rest stays as such.
-
$600+: Before saying goodbye to my dear hair, might as well take advantage of it one last time, for such generous donations I’ll run shaved with only two patches above my ears.
Pictures of my half marathon will, of course, be posted on this page and on TMP’s facebook page for your greatest pleasure. Furthermore, you will have prime access to the videos of the creation of my crazy haircut and my subsequent shaving.”
UPDATE:
Lucas did it! He ran 21 km on behalf of The Mercy Project and with your support, raised $1,000 for our community partners! Thank you Lucas and thank you to the donors for your generosity.
